In Vrouwenpolder, the final area to be developed forms the heart of the southern expansion of Barendrecht. The boundary conditions have resulted in an area composed of four quadrants. Three of them are development plots with parking courts. A park provides the adjacent primary school with a green play environment. The public space between the building plots is car-free and serves as a place for social interaction. A cycle path winds through the area as an important part of the cycling route for schoolchildren. The canal forms a missing link within the neighbourhood and, in the design, widens near the park. The buildings consist of ground-level terraced houses. At the corner points of the building plots, in the centre, five-storey apartment buildings are planned. These height accents thus mark the heart of the neighbourhood.
