Between De Laak’s residential areas, the Amersfoort – Zwolle railway line and the A28, the Laak 3 programme complements the existing facilities. The canal with hard quay of Laak 1 is given a softer side through a green riverbank. Along it a footpath connects play areas and seating spaces. It is lined by contemporary canal houses of high architectural quality. A sports hall and church flank the parking facility alongside the railway. Through shared use, this facility is used by commuters, athletes and community members of the church throughout the week. Warehouses, designed in an architectural style complementing the canal houses, form a buffer between the residential area and A28 highway. The church is a landmark along the water. Thanks to its visibility from the bridge, the sports hall isn’t tucked away.
