The new sports complex will be constructed in two phases. Until opening, the existing complex will remain in operation. Parking is accommodated in a new park-and-ride facility. With car access located to the north, the area itself is car-free with pools positioned along the new park. The new park connects the Nieuwe Vaart neighbourhood with Alkmaar Noord railway station. The main entrance is located on a square, clearly visible to visitors arriving by train. Sightlines are created towards the windmills along the Hoornse Vaart and the Ouddorperpolder. The new complex is visible from the cycle route along the canal, reinforcing its relationship with the surrounding landscape. The new sunbathing lawn lays sheltered at the rear, adjacent to the retained outdoor facilities. Efficient complex layout allows for a maximised lawn.
