A new park pulls the surrounding landscape into the renewed Schutskooiwijk neighbourhood. Building blocks along the park form a firm edge to the open landscape and park. Between the blocks, living streets create a calm and car-free living environment. The surrounding streets are green and form a loop that directs car traffic around the living space. Parking is provided along this loop and within parking courts. The plan is laid out around valuable existing trees. The residential streets and park are fitted with a climate adaptative design. Social housing is located along the park and along the residential streets, while market-sector homes are positioned along the edges. In this way, the neighbourhood remains socially inclusive, but becomes significantly greener, with social interaction at its heart.
